13 Pakistanis were featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list which was revealed recently. Among those 13, Misha Japanwala was also included in the list and while many took it as a proud moment for the nation, others have issues with it.
Misha is a Pakistani artist whose art is based on Pakistan’s social issues. The idea behind her art is to convey her aesthetic while expressing her opinion on a certain issue side by side. The artist basically focuses on the recurring women crises in Pakistan.
Forbes considered her eligible to be on the list because of the idea she has behind her powerful artwork which goes hand in hand with her commentary. According to Forbes, Japanwala’s work ‘addresses issues like honor killings and domestic violence in the country.’
The artist basically creates molds of bodies and sheds light on the crimes on the body. Due to the typical, misogynistic mindset, Misha’s art receives a lot of hate from Pakistanis who consider it ‘inappropriate.’
