Swimmer Kiran Khan steals the spotlight as she bags 10 gold medals for her team ‘Pakistan Army’

Leaving everyone absolutely stunned, Swimmer Kiran Khan stole the National Games’ spotlight as she bags 10 gold medals for team Pakistan Army. Kiran has repeatedly made the headlines ever since 2001 when she reclaimed the place for Pakistani women in the country’s sports sphere by winning 13 gold medals – 7 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze – in the National Games.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)’s capital Peshawar, which has always held on to its conservative and regressive image, particularly for women, is spreading colors of 33rd National Games 2019. A few days ago, when the pictures of rehearsals went viral, seeing women being an active part of the event was the most refreshing sight to witness. The multi-sport festivity takes place every four years and was scheduled for 10th to 16th November for the year 2019.

Kiran Khan’s achievements show that not only were the women an active part of the sports event but they also pretty much stole the show. Flaunting all those medals, she posted a picture on her Twitter.

Hailing from Lahore, Kiran has made her presence felt, representing Pakistan on global stages. At the beginning of 2019, Kiran also received a recognition certificate from the World Olympians Association. With the certificate, she can now represent Pakistan with using ” OLY” with her name in multiple Olympics’ events.

She was also awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to honor her contributions in 2012. She has won 47 international and 337 national gold medals. Apart from that, she was also declared as Pakistan Youth Icon in 2008 and won the Benazir Women Excellence award in 2009.
