Mahoor Shahzad is a 23-year-old badminton player from Karachi.
She first started playing badminton casually at the age of 12, back then she just played out in the streets like many other kids do too – little did anyone know she’d take that racket and take on the world.
At the age of 13, she became the champion in the under 19 national championships!
That was her in just one year!
At that point, she decided she wants to do this forever. She wanted to represent Pakistan internationally!
At the age of 16, she became Pakistans Number 1 badminton player! At this point, she was also chosen for the Asian Games 2014 trials.
At the age of 19, she became the National Women’s Champion!
That’s consistent progress throughout her years. She became the first Pakistani Female Player to be featured in the Top 200 – at Number 192.
Since her first National win at 19, she bagged the National Win every single year.
Yup, that’s right – 2017, 2018, 2019 and now 2020. She’s won the National Championship all 4 years in a row!
Not only is she winning everything in sight within Pakistan but has also brought home medals from SAF games, the Pakistan International Series and the Bulgarian International Championship to name a few.
She’s hoping to represent Pakistan in the 2020 Olympics Tokyo!
It’s amazing to see a female athlete that has grown in front of our eyes and is succeeding in everything she takes part in. Women like Mahoor are an inspiration for little girls everywhere!
You go girl!
