Violence and crimes against women have been on a disturbing rise. In the last few months, distressing incidents regarding women have come forth.
A journalist Sabin Agha shared a similar experience on her Twitter account, to which Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari reacted. She said that single men should not be allowed in public spaces.
Replying to the journalist’s tweet, she said that the police witnessed the horrific incident and did not help. They could have used weapons to disperse the crowd but they did not. Bhutto added that more needs to be done to safeguard the women in the community, and men should be banned from public places.
She went on to say that single men should not be allowed outside unless they have their daughters, wives, sisters, or mothers with them. She hoped that this would make them think twice before ‘assaulting women’.
Women across the country are raising their voices to make Pakistan safer. As the cases are increasing every single day, it is essential that stern and rigid measures are put in place to ensure the safety of the women walking on the streets.
