Shaniera Akram recently took to social media to express her disappointment over being called privileged because of her Australian heritage. She believes that just because of her white skin, Pakistanis have belittled her efforts for the country.
Shaniera, in a series of Instagram stories, opened up about how she is sick of being called ‘random white women, rich gori and privileged white person.’
She wrote, ‘Do you not remember I have spent 10 years in Pakistan, fighting for the rights of our people, caring for those who are underprivileged and standing up for country I have grown to love.’
She further mentioned how she never missed a chance to do good only for sake of the country. She wrote, ‘I was given that opportunity and without hesitation, despite many warnings, I took it.’
Shaniera talked about how she has left her friends and family for the last 10 years to add into the peace and growth of the country. She wants people to stop telling her to mind her own business as she is a part of Pakistan. ‘So let’s put our differences aside and work together and get on with making our country even better than it is, for all who love it as much as I do,’ she added.
Shaniera Akram is a part of numerous philanthropic projects including charity works for hospitals, recycling, The Akram Foundation and more.
