Dr. Sania Nishtar has announced a special quota for women and transgender persons under Ehsaas Rehri Ban. This project aims at providing them with a respectable livelihood.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Senator Dr. Sania, spoke about the project. In an interview with a media outlet, she called it the most challenging initiative in terms of deployment. She also said that the Rehri Ban Project will be initiated in the G-8, G-10, and G-11 sectors of the capital first.
She revealed that the small peddlers in the main markets will be given licenses. Modern carts at their points will also be provided after a survey is conducted. ‘The ultimate goal of this program is to protect them from exploitation at any level’, she added.
The project will then be expanded and will cover the whole city. A proper mechanism will be adopted to extend it in a transparent manner.
According to Dr. Sania, the Ehsaas Targeted Subsidy Programme will minimize the impact of inflation on common people. She also explained the procedure. The eligible families will be able to buy commodities like ghee, sugar, and flour at subsidized price rates.
