Pakistan’s first trans doctor Dr. Sarah Gill gets a house job at JPMC

Dr. Sarah Gill is setting an example to follow for everyone across the country who has a dream. In a society where a course, full of hate, disrespect and dependence, is already set for the transgender community, Gill is dedicated to taking a stand for herself.

Dr. Gill is the first member of the trans community to obtain an MBBS degree. Now, she has been granted a house job at JPMC (Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre). The Executive Director of JPMC, Professor Shahid Rasool and Gill met to receive the letter.

Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto had put in the request to the Sindh government for Sarah’s house job. Chief Minister of Sindh, Murad Ali Shah then asked the management of the hospital to allot a letter of authorization to Gill. The letter was to allow her to carry out her house job at the hospital.

The CM also congratuared her on her house job and successes. He added that PPP has done everything to give the transgender community a platform, and a voice.

Prior to this, the doctor made headlines for becoming the first trans doctor in the country. She got her MBBS degree from Jinnah Medical and Dental College, Karachi.

At the young age of 14, she had to leave her home and family. Dr. Gill encountered harsh challenges, difficulties and obstacles that the transgender community faces. However, with the right amount of backing, she was able to pursue higher education.

Her goal is to work for the betterment of the trans community, as they also deserve equal rights and opportunities. She aims to do Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeouns in Endrocinology.
