Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Safety and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar, has raised awareness on the fake Ehsaas programme messages. The scam messages invite people to call on a certain number (provided by them) to avail the government’s financial aid under the programme.
The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme was initiated in April 2020 under the Ehsaas umbrella. The sole purpose of this initiative was to help needy families facing financial difficulties. Dr. Nishtar is leading the program’s implementation process across the country, which includes granting a stipend of Rs12,000 to families across the country.
Nishtar said that the messages originally sent by Ehsaas are only received from the number 8171. She took to Twitter to talk about it and educate people on the programme.
