In another case of sexual abuse involving a minor, a teenager has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor. The victim is a 10-year-old child.
Lahore police have arrested a teenager, aged 15, for allegedly raping a minor on the rooftop of a mosque. The incident took place in the Nawankot area of the provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore. The victim’s father registered an FIR under Section 377B.
According to reports, the 15-year-old lured the minor to the rooftop of the mosque after congregation prayer began. It was mentioned in the report that the accused named Faizan, forced himself on the boy. The minor went home crying and told his mother about the incident. The complainant urged the police to bring the perpetrator to justice.
Sexual abuse against children in Pakistan
As per a report published by Sahil in 2021, more than 10 children were subjected to sexual abuse on average every day between January and June. The report also mentioned that the number of children subjected to abuse has increased compared to the previous report.
Data was collected from all four provinces for the report. The data showed a total of 1,896 cases of child abuse were reported during the mentioned period. Of these, 1,084 cases were of sexual abuse against children. Moreover, 53% of the victims were girls and 47% were boys.
Previously, a similar case in which two unidentified robbers allegedly gang-raped a minor girl at gunpoint in front of her father and family was reported. The incident took place near Chunian bypass in Pattoki.
Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz had taken notice of the incident. He also visited Khokhar Tochar Ashraf village where the family of the victim resides. CM expressed sympathy to the family and also promised them early arrest of the suspects.
