Pakistani women are prime examples that hard work, dedication, and perseverance always pay off. Faiza Yousuf and Muazma Zahid proved this to be true by swiping clean the International WomenTech Global Awards 2020.
Co-founder of CodeGirls Karachi and founder of WomenInTech, Faiza Yousuf, won the gold medal for the prestigious WomenInTech Ally Award for 2020. This accolade is annually given to three honorees for their achievements as an ‘ally’ to minorities in tech.
Yousuf is a freelancer and is a part of Upwork’s first-ever social impact report. Currently, she is working with [email protected]’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee for improving gender equality in Pakistan’s tech ecosystem. The tech pro was also a part of the roundtable on ‘Future of Work’ at #021Disrupt 2020.
On the other hand, Principal Engineering Manager at Microsoft, Muazma Zahid brought home the silver medal for ‘WomenInTech Mentor Award’ for 2020.
She is also the president of Pakistani Women in Computing (PWiC), Seattle Chapter lead for AnitaB.org and the lead at WomenWhoCode. However, her achievements don’t end here. She has also been invited as a keynote speaker for Inspiro 2020, GDGFEST 2020, Spectra 4.0, WTQ 2020, and these are some from 2020 alone.
Female representation in tech is increasing continuously in Pakistan. Women are showing that they are second to none. They are achieving new milestones every day and bringing home prestigious awards. We wish these two the best of luck for the future, more power to them!
