Pakistan is not the only country in the world where even children are abused, harassed and raped. Paedophiles are present everywhere. They are always lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to pounce on unsuspecting little victims, robbing them of their childhood innocence.
What goes on in the minds of these sick individuals is something we will never know. What drives them to commit such a heinous act? Is there any possible way to identify them or point them out? Sadly, there isn’t. They live amongst us. Carefully hiding behind their facade of a ‘happy go lucky’ member of the society. They put on such a good show, it would be impossible to even think they could do such a thing.
As a result, we trust them with our children and families. We open our doors to them, not knowing we are welcoming the devil himself. How do they repay your trust? They rip the very life out of your child. Scarring them of their childhood and leaving them traumatized. No one can ever understand what children who are abused go through.
Time and again we are hearing cases where little children are abused, raped and killed. Most of the times, the perpetrators are members of the family. What is being done to punish them? What steps are being taken by our government to ensure that incidents like these are nipped in the bud?
We should learn a lesson from Ukraine.
After noticing the increase of paedophiles, the country took matters into its own hands. According to the country’s new law, any man convicted of raping or abusing a child will go through chemical castration.
This law will apply annually to any man between the age of 18 and 65 who is found guilty of raping or abusing a minor. Under this law, a chemical will be injected through an injection which will reduce the man’s libido and sexual activity.
Along with this, the maximum jail time for raping a minor was also increased from 12 to 15 years.
Now this is what ACTION looks like. Where is the protection and security for our children? Why has there been no strict punishment announced for pedophiles and child rapists in our country?
For how long will we live scared and huddled in our homes? When will our children actually feel free and safe to live their childhood without the fear of anyone robbing it? When will we parents breathe a sigh of relief?
Who will help us or the better question is – will anyone help us?
