If you are someone whose hair dye needs touch ups every now and then we know the struggle because frequent dyes and parlor visits can be very annoying.
If you are looking for ways in which you can make your hair color last longer and specifically during the times of COVID when public interaction should be avoided to a maximum extent, then here’s what you need to do.
1- Know the type of shampoo your hair needs
Color treated hair need more than just the regular mild shampoos. It is better to opt for a shampoo and conditioner that is made for your hair type. Shampoos and products that are designed for dyed hair do not only make the color last longer but also protect the hair from any kind of damage and make them look healthier.
2- Minimize the use of styling tools
Excessive use of styling tools does not only harm your hair but it can also make your hair color fade. Straighteners, blow-dryers and curling wands make the hair porous and as explained by experts, the steam from the heating tools open up the cuticles and tend to make the hair color less visible.
It is also recommended that you use a heat protectant to protect the hair from heat damage.
3- Avoid washing your hair right after you color them
It is recommended by professionals that one waits at least 48-72 hours before washing their hair after getting them colored. Minimal use of shampoos will make the hair color last longer. Other than this, if your hair are greasy and are asking for a wash, go for a dry shampoo.
4- Do NOT skip hair masks
Hair masks are essential as they hydrate the hair, nourish them and bring back the shine in your hair that might have disappeared from your hair due to color.
The easiest mask you can make at home is using Mayonnaise. Simply apply the mayonnaise to your hair especially focusing on the ends and wash after 20 minutes.
