Hormonal Acne is basically caused by the overproduction of sebum. This overproduction causes pores to clog which in turn leads to pimples. This form can not only form on the face but also on the back, shoulders, chest.

Although acne might not be avoidable, you can still treat and prevent it. Since acne has many types, from moderate to severe, the treatment might vary accordingly. Some of the treatment methods are listed below:

1- Over-the-counter treatments

These include antibacterial cleansers. There are many over-the-counter treatment options however, one key thing people should remember is to avoid direct sunlight during this period.

2- Treatments for moderate acne

Doctors usually prescribe oral antibiotics for moderate acne. Other than that, topical antibiotics may also be recommended. Other options include anti-androgen hormone therapy.

3- Other methods

Other procedures that your doctor may recommend include: chemical peels, lasers and light therapy and extraction.

4- Treatment for cystic acne

Cystic acne is the most severe type of acne. This can be treated with a corticosteroid injection.

  • Avoid picking, scraping and scrubbing pimples
  • Avoid water-based cosmetics
