‘I am not comfortable endorsing masculinized ideas of female empowerment,’ Saheefa Jabbar

Model-turned-actress, Saheefa Jabbar made her acting debut with Teri Meri Kahani. She has made her name in the world of acting and has proved that she is multi-talented. She has done a number of dramas including Beti, Bhool, and more.

Saheefa has been away from the screen for a while now. There have been quite a lot of rumors that the model has quit acting. Jabbar finally took to Instagram to address all the rumors and clarified all the ongoing gossip.

The actress wrote, ‘There are no good scripts out there. The scripts which are being offered to me at the moment are not up to the standards of story-telling I feel comfortable endorsing.’ She also explained her purpose of clarifying everything. She said that she doesn’t feel good hearing things about herself that are untrue.

She then targeted the concerns. The Bhool actress mentioned that she has not quit acting and that she is being offered. She also expressed how acting is an important part of her life. ‘I only hold a positive opinion on the field of drama, and it remains to be my core profession,’ She wrote.

Saheefa went on writing how she respects the work of her fellow hardworking professionals. She mentioned that she is not being offered ‘good scripts’ which is why she is away from the TV screens. The model opened up about being offered the same scripts that revolve around a miserable girl trapped in an unhappy house and marriage is her only escape.

Expressing her frustration on the low-quality scripts, she wrote, ‘I’m not comfortable endorsing escapism. I am not comfortable endorsing masculinized ideas of female empowerment.’

She then proceeded on questioning why the women in dramas are always shown oppressed. She called all such scripts nonsense and irrational. Saheefa concluded her detailed note saying that she will do scripts that have well-thought-out characters and intelligent dialogue.

Saheefa isn’t the only one who is enraged over the same, repetitive script. The drama industry has been getting a lot of criticism lately by the viewers for producing low-quality dramas.
