'People should appreciate that work rather than letting me down,' Mahira Khan addresses criticism on Hum Kahan K Sacchay Thay

Mahira Khan recently addressed the criticism she has received on her drama Hum Kahan K Sacchay Thay. The actress believes that all the assumptions people have about her character are ‘baseless.’

Mahira appeared in an interview with a reputed media outlet. The actress shared her point of view on multiple topics. Among the questions that the host asked Khan was about her ongoing drama Hum Kahan K Sacchay Thay. The actress believes that all the hate she is getting for the character is ‘unjustified.’

The Humsafar actress recalled how when she was reading the script, she had the same feelings about her character as the audience. She questioned why she is crying and suffering in silence. However, later she realized that to ‘show that emotional trauma and abuse exist in our society, you have to portray it.’

She agreed that at some points, Mehreen had a regressive nature. ‘But she wasn’t like that from the start. She was strong and independent,’ she added. The actress mentioned how the story is not a love story like people claim it to be. ‘It is the story of a toxic family,’ she said.

The Raees actress believes that people are comparing Mehreen to Khirad, calling it ‘regressive.’ However, she thinks Khirad was a very strong character too. The Bin Roye actress says that instead of letting her down, people should appreciate her work.
