For the past few years, the popularity of matte liquid lipsticks has grown quite exponentially. Everyone loved rocking the bold colors and getting them totally transfer-free has been an absolute dream!
But have you ever tried to wear a liquid lip only to realize your lip looks drier than the Sahara desert?
I know I have!
Don’t let that tiny detail keep you from enjoying the perks of the all-day liquid lips! There’s a quick and easy fix for it!
The first thing to keep in mind is to drink enough water. Water is your best friend. Without drinking enough water you’ll always be dehydrated – that shows up on your lips. Drink plenty of water during the day so you can keep your insides all nice and hydrated – it’ll affect how you look on the outside.
Often, our lips aren’t that dry – they just have a lot of dead skin building up. In combination with dehydration, this ends up being the skin you’d subconsciously be peeling off all the time. Leaving some sore spots, some dry ones and some hanging on for dear life.
What can fix this? A lip scrub!
No, you don’t even need to go out and buy this scrub. Just walk over to your kitchen and whip up a fresh batch yourself!
So here’s presenting *drum roll*
What you’ll need:
2 teaspoons of granulated sugar (brown or white)
1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil
1 teaspoon of honey
Mix these together and use it to exfoliate your lips gently
Do so for a minute or two and then wash it off with warm water
Moisturize with your favorite lip balm, Vaseline or oil – you’ll instantly notice how quickly your lips will soak up the moisture. You’ll have soft and plump lips that you can apply your favorite liquid lipstick on!
Another benefit of this is that your lipstick will last a lot longer because you started off with a clean base.
The best part? You can eat it too!
