Punjab’s lady health workers have been protesting and raising their voices for their rights for a few months now and have put forth their charter of demands. They have demanded up-gradation, regularization, and payment of wages.
Another sit-in of the health workers from across Punjab has entered its third day. The sources have informed that the workers who were a part of the sit-in spent their night on the road with a demand for an upgrade of the service structure scale and a 25% increase in their salaries.
In 2020, a similar sit-in outside parliament in Islamabad took place, which was called off on the seventh day after the minister agreed to meet these workers’ demands. They protested for ‘uniform pay packages, security during the anti-poliovirus campaign and promotion and gratuity of the employees.’
