A fake edited video of Aurat March is going viral on the internet in which slogans of a blasphemous nature can be heard. While it is far from reality, the doctored slogans and the edited video captions made the event controversial, leading to an organised hateful campaign against the organisers and the participants.
To voice his concerns against the campaign of gruesome nature, the Minister of Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, took to Twitter to address it. He spoke about the edited video and said that those who purposefully did it have committed a ‘grave offense.’ Moreover, he said that FIA should take action against the responsible individuals. He added that a trial that will prove to be helpful for the agencies to know who is actually behind this will prevent this from happening in future as well.
The female journalists and activists are demanding a public apology over disinformation.
In addition to this, the march was also accused of raising a French flag at Aurat March Islamabad, for which they were falsely accused of subscribing to a ‘foreign agenda.’ This claim was also clarified as it was not a French flag but a banner of the ‘Women Democratic Front.’
