Government announces that the ‘Rehmatul-Lil Alameen’ Scholarship is also for non-muslims

To help underprivileged and needy students continue their education, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a scholarship program under the name ‘Rehmatul-Lil Alameen.’

Details have revealed that a budget of Rs27.93 billion has been approved for the cause which will be used for the next five years. The program will cover about 129 public sector universities throughout Pakistan.

The PM announced at an inauguration ceremony held in Islamabad that the government will provide 5.5 billion for 70,000 scholarships annually. He further informed that this scholarship will cover all Pakistanis including the non-muslims. Moreover, a total of 350,000 scholarships will be given for Rs28 billion under the program.

Other than this, the PM told that the provincial governments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab will also give separate scholarships to those eligible.

Education Minister, Shafqat Mehmood, shared the news about the scholarship and also informed that 50% of the scholarships will be provided to women while 2% are fixed for people who are speciallyabled.

The news about the program was also shared by Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari and Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry on their Twitters where they encouraged those in need to apply for the amount.
