The title sounds too good to be true? Well let me tell you that – achieving true happiness is an ordeal many pursue but unfortunately most fail at. Leaving us to wonder can we ever truly be happy?

1. LOVE YOURSELF FIRST –

Loving yourself is the key step to achieve even a tiny bit of happiness. If you don’t love ‘you’ you can’t love ‘them’ it’s that’s simple. Self love starts with being accepting and forgiving to our own selves. Don’t be too hard on you. It’s a tough job dealing through life and sometimes you don’t need to be your own critic.

2. OPEN/EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IS KEY

Communication is so underrated. Ditch your ego and TALK about things that bother you. VOICE YOUR CONCERNS. If you can do that in a civil and respectful way you’ve done half the job. MOST relationships (of any kind) fail mostly due to lack of communication between two people. Don’t let you be part of the most!

3. BE RESPECTFUL TOWARDS EACH OTHER

Respect is equal for everyone. The simple law governing it is – give respect, get respect. Simply treat everyone the way you would want to be treated as well. Being respectful towards each other is crucial for better understanding & stronger connections.

4. HAVE REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS

What makes things go down hill is essentially the fact that we end up day dreaming way too much. Unrealistic expectations tend to be the death of most relationships simply because they increase miscommunication & cause misleading expectations. Be clear and honest from the start. Any relationship based on lies or misinformation can never be sustained. It will always fail.

5. GIVE EACH OTHER SPACE

Know how over whelming feels? It’s a suffocating feeling when someone else invades your personal space. This may cause people to become irritated or annoyed. Time to unwind with your own self is so so important. Everyone needs their own space & if you deprive someone of that it can lead to severe mood swings.

6. PICK YOUR BATTLES

This can not be stressed enough. Always pick your battles. Not everything is worth fighting over plus the more you fight, the more the focus shifts from actually addressing the problems to you both becoming ‘fighters’ instead. Its hard to control anger, yes and it’s also easier said than done but practicing 10 seconds of calmness before getting into a quarrel can prove to be a life-changing technique- if mastered.

Last but definitely not the least remember that- it’s always the little things. They do matter & they can make a difference. So always go the extra mile, send that 3rd text, make that phone call. Trust me, they matter.
